So, here is my suggestion to you all.

Allow some sort of secret registration process whereby the “Less Stable” can secretly ban themselves from any gun ownership.
.
Such a ban can never be “Forced” on you by any outside agency on an individual and the list would remain secret.
.
Once you put your name on that register IT CAN NEVER BE REMOVED!
BUT
When they go through an ID check or apply for a gun license (or even attempt to buy ammo) it would match against this secret voluntary register and instantly have that sale denied!
.
That way the “Well version” of us “Less stable” have at least have a degree of protection against our “Ill version” of our potential future selves!
