.
SHE SHOULD NEVER BE MINE!
By
Ross E F Lombardi
.
This is a preachy poem.
To explain hard-to-explain things.
.
That you cannot own anyone.
But you can give yourself to them.
Even IF you wear each other’s rings.
.
There IS a major difference between the two,
That no one seems to see.
I cannot belong to her!
She cannot belong to me!
.
To own is to possess, to have power.
To enslave and take.
While to give is to surrender both your egos
To love for its own sake.
.
This is a preachy poem
To Feel an easy to feel thing.
.
If you claim that you own someone.
You might be unfaithful.
As you seek to expand your holdings over other fleshy lands.
.
While if you give yourself to each other.
You will never consider being unfaithful.
You will keep hold of each other’s hands.
.
Love is something you give.
Not Entitlement to beat with, inflict and break.
It can only ever be a gift given.
Never a prize to take.
.
This is a preachy poem.
To say an awkward to say thing - to be.
In a world-scape of weirdly warring sexes.
To explain what being in a couple means to me!
.
You cannot be each other’s property to defend and use.
You should be but gifts to one another.
To forever love and hold.
.
Fighting forever with each other
Back-to-back, in total loyal unison forever
Both of You together against a selfish world.

Notes
.
The dating scene at over 50 is horrendous.
People's attitudes to each other on all sides seem to be disgusting to me.
Everyone wants to own their partners but not give themselves to each other!
It is all about ego and never about love anymore!
In a world where love seems to have gone out of fashion
A bit of preaching from my little soapbox
